Handgun Control

About Handgun Control
Founded in 1974 by a victim of gun violence, Handgun Control became
the driving force
for significant gun safety legislation in the 1980s
when Sarah Brady joined the organization.
Her husband, former White
House Press Secretary Jim Brady, was wounded in the assassination attempt
on President Reagan in 1981. Mrs. Brady serves as chair of Handgun Control
and the Center to Prevent Handgun Violence.
Jim and Sarah have stood up to the gun lobby for over
fifteen years and spoken out
across the country for common-sense gun
laws. They have become internationally recognized symbols of the fight
against gun violence in America.
