A LETTER FROM THE DIRECTORS CREATING A SUCCESSFUL SERIES

Our video series emerged from a grassroots base of support and has been enriched by numerous collaborations throughout, resulting in a life of its own, well beyond our original expectations. The generated enthusiasm for Phase One of this project has both validated and heightened our awareness for the need and use of this type of programming. Going forward, the range of possibilities for interested and engaged audiences on a local, state and national level are limitless.

We credit our funders, friends and supporters, a diverse and spirited crew and valued contributions from Industry professionals for our project's organic nature. This process has assisted in creating a rare opportunity for respectful, non-polarizing dialogue surrounding the critical Issue of gun violence. We thank you for your continued support

Imagine starting out with a seed of an idea for a documentary to generate discussion on gun violence and having it sprout into a three-part documentary series. The series generates tremendous community support and dialogue and garners international attention. That's the proud history to date of Guns, Grid and Grace in America.

The first documentary. Dear Rita, was completed last year and has received accolade) locally, nationally and internationally. The remaining videos, The Promise of America, which explores a history of American activism, and The Right to Bear Arms: One State's Perspectives, are currently in post-production. Both documentaries are expected to be completed this year.

Donna Dees-Thomases,
founder of the 2000 Million Mom March in Washington, D.C., is among the series' many endorsers.

EXPLORING THE RIGHT TO BEAR ARMS

In collaboration with the Wisconsin Anti-Violence Effort (Wave), the community education documentary, The Right to Bear Arms, brings to light ways in which the issue of gun violence impacts everyone.

Nightly television news viewers are all too accustomed to central city gun violence stories. However, what is not as well publicized is the fact that suicide and spousal abuse in rural and suburban areas in Wisconsin are among the leading causes of gun fatalities. "Successful suicides" account for more than 50% of all gun deaths in the United States.

The piece will help further dialogue around the concerns of diverse communities who are linked together and share a state legislature.
